Jesse Unaapik Mike is an Inuk who was born and raised in Iqaluit, but lived in her family’s hometown of Pangnirtung for short stints in her early years. She has 2 daughters, Niviaq aged 9 and Mik'ngayaq aged 2 and is married to Moriah Sallaffie who is from Nome, Alaska. Together, they raise their girls in an area a short ride from Iqaluit, called Apex. Jesse has always stayed committed to advocating for Inuit on social justice issues, and continues to do so where she can. She is currently the Project Director for a non-profit learning organization called Ilitaqsiniq and is at the end of her studies at X University in Public Administration and Governance with an Indigenous focus.
