Deborah McGregor

Temperate Deciduous Forests

Deborah is from Whitefish River First Nation and she was born in Birch Island, Ontario to Elder Marion McGregor. She earned her PhD in Forestry from the University of Toronto. She is an Associate professor and Canada Research Chair in Indigenous Environmental Justice at Osgoode Hall Law School.

She is the Canada Research Chair in Indigenous Environmental Justice. Her work is at the forefront of Indigenous environmental justice research as well as Indigenous research theory and practice. Her work has focused on Indigenous knowledge systems and their various applications in diverse contexts including water and environmental governance, environmental justice, climate justice, and Indigenous research theory and methodologies.
