Sarah Hernandez
Development Manager
Sarah is a first-generation immigrant of Tagalog and Ilocana descent, currently residing in Tkaronto.
With over 15 years of experience in community organizing, she is deeply committed to addressing climate justice and decolonization through an intersectional lens and with an anti-oppression approach, ensuring that climate justice initiatives are inclusive and accessible to all equity-deserving people.
Sarah actively advocates for the rights of Indigenous communities, recognizing their inherent sovereignty and the urgent need for land restoration through land back. She recognizes the intergenerational trauma caused by colonization and the need for holistic healing approaches within social justice movements. She advocates for healing justice, and spaces that prioritize the well-being and healing of individuals and communities affected by historical and ongoing injustices.
Her intention with her work is to decolonize philanthropy and create a more equitable fundraising landscape. She strives to challenge traditional power dynamics and center the voices and needs of marginalized communities in philanthropic spaces.
When she’s not working, Sarah indulges her insatiable curiosity by diving into books or going on adventures with her husband, and furry companion. Whether immersing herself in nature or embracing the vibrant energy of cities, she finds joy in exploring new places.
