Nunatsiavut
Jordan Brown is a young Inuk woman from Nunatsiavut, Labrador and a member of Indigenous Climate Action’s National Steering Committee. Currently, she studies Kinesiology and Psychology at Memorial University of Newfoundland in St. John’s, NL. In her spare time, she has participated in Interprofessional Skills training with the University's Faculty of Medicine, and completed Mental Health First Aid training, as well as Professional Development training.
In between studies, Jordan has a passion for working with youth and working in policy advancement. At Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami, the National organization for protecting and advancing the rights of Inuit within Canada, Jordan works on files that relate to Food Security, Public Health, and Post-secondary Education. Jordan was inspired to continue advocating for Indigenous rights and land sovereignty while involved in the climate action space through a program facilitated by Actua in her community. She’s been involved in the Youth Leadership Gathering and Climate Action training with Indigenous Climate Action.
In the coming years, Jordan hopes to work in Indigenous-specific health care and wellness, providing support to those in isolated northern communities. Her hobbies include photography, hiking, and spending time on the land
