Chelsey Perry
Nisg̱a’a First Nation
Chelsey Perry (she/they) is a citizen of the Nisg̱a’a First Nation with mixed Nisg̱a’a and settler European ancestry. She lives, works, and learns on the traditional unceded homelands of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, and Səl̓ílwətaɬ Nations. Chelsey is a queer PhD student in the School of Population and Public Health at the University of British Columbia. Their dissertation focuses on the intersecting challenges of gender equity, health equity, and climate justice utilizing weaving methodology to integrate Indigenous art-based, qualitative, and quantitative methods to support the creation of healthier and sustainable futures for Indigenous women, gender diverse, and Two-Spirit Peoples. Chelsey is also a graduate research assistant on the Amplify Project and at the Unlearning & Undoing White Supremacy lab. She is committed to learning the Nisg̱a’a language and runs a bi-weekly language learning group to support the next generation of Nisg̱a’a language speakers. Chelsey is also a traditional Nisg̱a’a dancer and a part of the Vancouver Nisg̱a’a Dancers.
