The snow has melted and the fireweed is blooming. The Unist’ot’en clan invite hard working folks to join them from June 2 to 23 for their annual June Work Party!
Come for a minimum of 1 week, and help support the Unist’ot’en in their mandate to Heal the People and Heal the Land.
This year we’re working on fire preparedness and safety and making other important adjustments to camp to increase efficiency and safety. The Healing Centre has been operating regular and essential programming for Wet’suwet’en people healing from substance abuse and the effects of colonization. They had five transformative and moving healing camps this winter and now it's time to prepare for the summer season. Fallers, cooks, drivers, chainsaw operators, medics, skilled trades folk, enthusiastic cleaners, and those willing to get their hands dirty and work in solidarity with the Unist’ot’en on their sovereign territory are welcome.
Not sure if you have the right skill set? You might be surprised! Get in touch and see.
Though the world is on fire right now, you can spend your summer doing something to get in the way of climate change and colonization. Where else is just washing dishes revolutionary? Before applying to come to camp, the Unist'ot'en ask you to read the preparing for your visit section of their site and pay particular attention to the consent guidelines. Behaviour going against the guidelines will not be tolerated. There is little to no risk of arrest at this time at camp. Although industry continue to try to do their dirty work, the Unist’ot’en are still actively running programming and cultural camps on their territory for Wet’suwet’en people, and invite you to join in supporting them as they heal their people and their land.
