Nominate Indigenous-Led Climate Projects to get $3K with our Sovereignty in Action Awards!

Indigenous Climate Action (ICA) is calling for nominations to our Sovereignty in Action (SIA) Awards! The SIA awards are an ICA initiative awarding micro grants (up to $3,000) to small, grassroots Indigenous-led groups and projects

This  bravery and commitment is vital to further building up the Indigenous Sovereignty in so-called Canada, and informing the ways we continue to work towards a world with sovereign and thriving Indigenous Peoples and cultures leading climate justice for all.

We believe this dedication deserves recognition and support, and hope that this low-barrier nomination will allow us to help in achieving our goals to:

  1. Distribute $100K in funds to Indigenous grassroots organizations and individuals across so-called Canada.

  2. Train Indigenous Community Members in Project Management and Budgeting.

  3. Start-up Support of Indigenous-led movement services, economies, climate justice projects, practices of Indigenous sovereignty, food sustainability, and support for uplifting Indigenous science.

The connection between climate justice and direct action is clear. Those defending our Mother Earth through asserting Indigenous rights and sovereignty are fighting for justice. In order to create a just and healthy future for us and our Mother, all avenues of action are considered relevant and important as we work towards a common goal.

Building and maintaining relationships to our relatives and to our Mother is climate justice. Supporting our relatives and communities to live their teachings is climate justice. Justice for Indigenous peoples; justice for our Mother Earth.
