Women Leading Fossil Fuel Phaseout and A Just Transition

Baku, Azerbaijan — On November 18, Women leaders will share critical strategies to advance a fossil fuel phaseout and a Just Transition that supports communities and ecosystems. This press conference is organized by the Women’s Earth and Climate Action Network (WECAN) at COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Last year, countries agreed to transition off of fossil fuels, yet, over 1770 fossil fuel lobbyists have been granted access to the COP29 summit in Baku— one of the largest delegations this year. In addition to sharing strategies for a fossil fuel phaseout, panelists will also highlight the role of climate finance in supporting equitable solutions and ensuring accountability in the Just Transition.
