Rosalyn Boucha

Rosalyn Boucha (Rosie) is a member of Animakee Wa Zhing First Nation in Treaty 3 Territory and is of mixed Anishinaabe and German-settler descent. Growing up on both sides of the medicine line (US-Canada border), Rosie also holds deep roots in Kabekanong (Warroad, Minnesota) on the south shore of Lake of the Woods.
Rosie graduated from the University of Manitoba’s Faculty of Architecture with her Bachelor of Environmental Design (B EnvD) in 2013. Following graduation, she worked in the design-build industry for a short time before shifting to multimedia and communications with a focus on Indigenous community organizations.
Rosie has had the privilege of collaborating with several Indigenous-led organizations including the Manitoba First Nations Education Resource Centre (MFNERC), Indigenous Languages of Manitoba (ILM), Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre (Ma Mawi), Indigenous Vision for the North End (IVNE), the Winnipeg Indigenous Friendship Centre, and the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation.
In 2018, Rosie was shortlisted for a Manitoba Book Award for her illustrations in Hidden Friends: Baapi and the Memegwesiwak. In 2021, she was the featured Creative Contributor in Bravery Mag for her illustrations in the Susan La Flesche Picotte issue.
In her free time, Rosie loves knitting, beading, crafting, and being on the land. She grew up gardening and gathering alongside her parents and has continued the tradition into adulthood. In Spring 2023, Rosie joined Ininīwikistayikēwin Seed Library to continue learning, growing, and building relations with her plant relatives and community.
