Jacob Crane
Tsuut'ina Nation
Jacob is a citizen of the Tsuut'ina Nation, Alberta, Canada. He first joined the climate justice movement in 2015 after hearing about the No Dakota Access Pipeline and the struggles that the Standing Rock Sioux tribe was experiencing by the state. It also brought him back to the Idle No More movements that swept across so-called Canada in 2012.
Jacob is an Indigenous Entrepreneur and enjoys building startup companies that positively impact Native communities. Like many, he wishes to see more conscious tribal investment for future generations, that also creates platforms to build stronger robust Indigenous economies.
In 2020, Jacob was a part of the Renewing Indigenous Economies Cohort with the Hoover Institute located at Stanford University. He currently sits on the Nation Advisory Committee on Inclusive Practices (NACIP) for Waterford Upstart, an early-learning nonprofit organization.
