Jamie Bourque

From the Buffalo Lake Métis Settlement, in the colonial state of northwest Canada where he was raised among his grandparents and large extended family. Jamie is a Two-Spirit, indigenous, single parent who canceled their subscription to pronouns.

Jamie has reclaimed her Two-Spirit teachings in his community by learning how to identify, harvest, and prepare indigenous medicines through their Nehiyaw Elders and Knowledge Keepers.

As a Design and Mo1on Image alumnus from MacEwan University, 2009, Jamie also considers himself a Social Impact Producer, and likes to combine media psychology, memory work and design to share people's experiences for the purpose of healing, not exploitation.

After serving two Youth Advisor terms on the National Aboriginal Healing Foundation of Canada, in 2013 Jamie was selected by the Nelson Mandela Foundation in South Africa to participate in the Nelson Mandela Dialogues 2013-2019. The Mandela Dialogue process provided an international forum to discuss the complex personal, collective, and professional challenges facing those engaged in reckoning with the past. It also dissected international reconciliation attempts, and explored why the truth and reconciliation model that South Africa offered to the world, does not work.

In 2016 Jamie was then selected by the Bundesstiftung our Aufarbeitung Der SED-Dikatur, a Federal Foundation for Reconciliation in Germany, where Jamie studied German History, Memory Work, and the parallels between Europe's and North America's crimes against humanity.

Jamie has shared his indigenous perspective of colonial structures and history by sharing the experiences of his family and their connection to "Truth" and "Reconciliation". His presentations and panels in Germany, Poland, Bosnia, Croatia, South Africa, Cambodia and Greece, have shared a 'truth' unknown to the International community.

Jamie Bourque is the owner of the media production company Multipel Inc. - and has been active in the industry since 2009 as an Executive Producer, Creative Producer, Writer, and Director. Jamie is currently in Production with their first feature-length documentary, which is set to be released for broadcast and distribution in Europe, Africa, and Turtle Island March 2022.
