Rally for Justice in the Tar Sands

  • Indigenous Climate Action PO Box 52167 Edmonton, Alberta Canada T6G 2T5 (map)

Thursday, April 20 at 3:00 pm (ET), join Keepers of the Water and Environmental Defence the rally to support the Indigenous Nations directly impacted by the recent Imperial Oil disaster in the tar sands.

Imperial Oil, the Alberta Energy Regulator and Environment and Climate Change Canada will appear at the House of Commons ENVI committee on April 20th and 24th to testify about their handling of Imperial Oil’s toxic tailings leak.

Imperial Oil’s tailings ponds have been leaking toxic wastewater into the environment for over nine months - contaminating the lands and drinking water of downstream Indigenous communities, who were not informed until an additional 5.3 million litres spilled earlier this year.

Join us in calling for accountability and federal charges to be laid against Imperial Oil for this toxic tailings disaster.

Rally Details:

When: April 20th at 3:00 pm
