RBC is funding climate chaos and Indigenous Rights violations

City National Bank’s parent company, RBC, is bankrolling the Coastal GasLink pipeline – violating Wet’suwet’en rights as the pipeline is constructed through Wet’suwet’en sovereign land WITHOUT consent.

Bankrolling Coastal GasLink is just the latest example of RBC covering up its role in violating Indigenous rights, not upholding free, prior and informed consent as outlined in UNDRIP, and exacerbating the climate crisis. As Canada’s #1 fossil fuel bank, and the fifth largest in the world, RBC is deeply implicated in the Canadian tar sands – the world’s dirtiest source of oil that has devastated Indigenous lands and destroyed pristine boreal forest.

ICA co-founder Melina Laboucan-Massimo, Molly Wickham from Gidimt'en Checkpoint, Actor Mark Ruffalo, Wet'suwet'en Hereditary Chief Na'moks and lawyer Eugene Kung from West Coast Environmental Law take part in a crucial conversation where they demand that City National Bank’s parent company RBC immediately withdraw support from the pipeline and stop funding dirty fossil fuels.
