Decolonize Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday is a global movement for giving and wealth sharing, taking place each year after Black Friday and Cyber Monday. This year it lands on Tuesday, November 29th.

This global day of giving supports many non-profit organizations across the planet, however in the past only a small percentage of these funds have gone to Indigenous-led organizations.

This is the third year that ICA is leveraging Giving Tuesday to raise funds in support of resourcing more Indigenous groups to uphold our rights as Indigenous Peoples and take action for climate justice. Last year we raised just over $5,000, this year we are hoping we can double that!

Do you have a few spare dollars to chip in today?

This year we are hoping to raise $10,000 to support our Sovereignty in Action fund which provides resources for grassroots groups tackling the climate crisis by centering Indigenous Rights.

Now more than ever, it is important to support Indigenous Leadership in the strategies to address climate change. Whether in policy discussion demanding legislation that ensures free, prior and informed consent, or on the frontlines resisting the expansion of fossil fuel pipelines, deforestation, and other extractive industries like mining and fish farms; Indigenous leadership is critical for ensuring our long-term planetary health.

Alongside Indigenous ingenuity for addressing the root causes of the climate crisis, we know Indigenous world-views and ways of knowing are essential for building up biodiversity, reviving local ecosystems, and enabling infrastructure for food, energy and community sovereignty that are essential for climate solutions. That is why getting resources to the grassroots is one of the many ways ICA shows up to support Indigenous leadership in climate solutions. .

Donate today and help spread the word to support Indigenous Climate Action this Giving Tuesday!
