Applications for our Climate Leadership Program Cohort 9 are NOW OPEN!

Indigenous Climate Action is pleased to announce that we are now accepting applications for the latest cohort of our Climate Leadership Program!

The Climate Leadership Program (CLP) is a transformative initiative built through community engagements and knowledge-sharing sessions from across so-called ‘Canada’. Fundamentally, the CLP serves to facilitate capacity-building, information and resource exchanges, and advocacy among Indigenous leaders, communities and beyond

This session will be held online via Zoom on Friday, September 6th to Sunday September 8th from 9am-1:30pm PDT / 10am-2:30pm MDT / 11am-3:30pm CDT / 12-4:30pm EDT /1-5:30pm ADT / 1:30-6pm NDT.


In This 3-Day Training, We Will Cover:

  • The basics of climate science and climate change

  • Indigenous perspectives on climate change and climate change

  • Root causes of climate change while demonstrating the role that Indigenous knowledge has in Mother Earth’s survival

  • The impacts of human economic activity on Mother Earth

  • The impacts that climate change is having on life on Mother Earth

  • Connections between climate change and the health of Indigenous people, communities & Nations

  • Climate solution projects and stories at community and national levels

  • How to identify false solutions to climate change

In order to be eligible for this training participants must:

  • Self-identify as Indigenous

  • Be 18 years of age or older

  • Located on Turtle Island (North America)

  • Able to attend all three online sessions

  • Have a strong internet connection 

  • Be willing to participate in popular education style programming including zoom breakout rooms, collaborating on digital interactive whiteboard software such as google jamboard, & engaging in group discussions 

  • Have a strong desire to create positive change in your community / Nation/organization

  • Interested in hosting your own training in your community/Nation/organization
